Before enrolling your child, please call and schedule an interview with the director, program director, or a teacher and visit the center. Enrollment, health, and emergency medical care consent forms must be completed upon admission.  Early Childhood Learning Center, Inc. in Madison (ECLC), providing child care in Madison,  does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, color, sex, creed, able bodyness, national origin, or ancestry. 

Physical tests are required as follows: 

• Children under age 2: Every 6 months 

• Children age 2 and up: Every 2 years

Children will be accepted in the center on a two-week trial basis. During this time, children will be observed closely for any special emotional or development problems. Should we feel there is a problem, we will refer you to your family doctor or the proper community agency for assistance.

There will be a continued evaluation of the child’s growth, development, and behavior to ensure his happiness and well being. 

Medication & Illness

Medication will be given only if provided in a prescription medicine-pharmacy bottle and with the written permission of the parent. Over the counter medicine such as cough syrup, may also be administered upon parents’ authorization. The staff will be alert to the signs of illness throughout the day. Should a child show signs of illness, he will be isolated in a quiet area and the parent will be contacted immediately.  

Arrangements must be made for the exclusion of the child from the center until he is well. The local health authority must be notified of certain communicable diseases. When a child is suspected of having a communicable disease or condition such as, but not limited to: chicken pox, German measles, infectious hepatitis, measles, mumps, poliomyelitis, lice, ringworm of the scalp, scarlet fever, whooping cough, diphtheria, or meningitis, the county or city health nurse shall be notified when required.

When diagnosis of a communicable disease is made, the exposed children shall be watched for symptoms of the disease as specified. Information should be noted in the child’s file and staff communication book.A child may be readmitted without a statement from the physician after a communicable disease if the child has been absent for a period of time designated by the state when required, or by a licensed pediatrician when state does not specify. For illness other than communicable disease,written releases from the child’s physician is necessary before readmission.

Health & Nutrition

A nutritious breakfast will be served between 7:00 AM-8:15 AM.

There will be a mid-morning snack at 9:30 AM. A hot nutritious lunch is served daily at 11:00 AM. The lunch will consist of a protein source, 2 vegetables or 1 vegetable and 1 fruit, a whole grain product, and grade A milk.

An afternoon snack will be served at 3:30 PM. The mid morning and afternoon snacks consist of at least two of the following; milk or a dairy product; fruit or fruit juice; vegetable or vegetable juice; peanut butter or other protein; or whole grain enriched product. Special days may be celebrated with treats from home. Please make arrangements with your child's teacher.
